Day in the Life of a New Age Mainframe Application Developer
Date & Time
Thursday, February 11, 2021, 2:30 PM - 3:00 PM
Vaughn Marshall

The primary job of an application developer is to write, build, debug, test code. That experience should be the same irrespective of what platform or language the code is being written in. Mainframe application development has always been considered as different because “we do things differently on the mainframe”. It is time for us to collectively ask the question - is mainframe application development really different? This session will demonstrate and prove that Mainframe application development, testing and CI/CD is not different from any other platform with the help of Open Source technologies like Zowe, Eclipse Che, VSCode, and Git. The session will walk thru a day in the life of an application developer to edit, build, debug mainframe application code using the same set of tools being used for Java or web development.
